Qantas was accused in 2023 of advertising tickets to flights that were already canceled. Regulators announced Sunday that the airline agreed to pay $13.2 million to impacted customers. Qantas will pay $149 to domestic ticket holders and $298 to international ticketholders. AdvertisementRegulators said on Sunday that Qantas Airways has agreed to pay about 20 million Australian dollars to more than 86,000 customers to settle allegations that the airline misled them by selling them tickets for canceled flights. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) said in a Sunday press release that the Australian airline company will pay 225 Australian dollars to domestic ticketholders and 450 Australian dollars — about $149 and $298 in US currency — to international ticketholders.

Ticketholders will be the first to have access to the limited-edition cups, which will be available in both black and white. The Utah Jazz will be selling exclusive Stanley Quenchers emblazoned with the Jazz logo at the team's next home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, February 4. The drop is part of a multi-year agreement between Stanley and the Jazz. Stanley is particularly popular in Utah. If Stanley's recent drops are any indication, the Jazz cups should be a hot commodity.

Read previewTwo concertgoers from New York City are suing Madonna, as well as Live Nation and the Barclays Center, after the pop star started a show two hours late, leaving them tired for work the next day. The complaint, seeking unspecified damages, outlined that the two men booked to see Madonna perform at her "Celebration Tour" at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Both plaintiffs went to the December 13 concert, where Madonna appeared onstage more than two hours late, it said. As a result, Fellows and Hadden contend they were "damaged as a direct and proximate result" of the late start time and are seeking a trial by jury. LOS ANGELES, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Veteran rocker Bruce Springsteen said on Wednesday he was indefinitely postponing eight tour dates this month with his E Street Band, citing medical treatment he is undergoing for peptic ulcers. CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — The boss of Australian airline Qantas said Tuesday he would leave his job immediately — two months earlier than planned — following a series of embarrassing revelations about the company, including allegations it sold tickets for flights that had already been canceled. The airline said Vanessa Hudson would take over as managing director and group chief executive from Wednesday. The announcement came after a difficult few weeks for Qantas and Joyce. Qantas previously acknowledged its standards had fallen well short of expectations as the airline emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline has since come under pressure to pay back the AU$2.7 billion it received from the Australian government during the coronavirus pandemic.

Aug 31 (Reuters) - Australian competition regulator has taken Qantas Airways (QAN.AX) to court, alleging the flagship carrier in mid-2022 kept selling tickets for more than 8,000 cancelled flights for an average of over two weeks after the flights were called off. "We have commenced these proceedings alleging that Qantas continued selling tickets for thousands of cancelled flights, likely affecting the travel plans of tens of thousands of people," ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb said. "However, this case does not involve any alleged breach in relation to the actual cancellation of flights, but rather relates to Qantas' conduct after it had cancelled the flights." ACCC said it would pursue orders including penalties, injunctions, declarations, and costs against the airline for its conduct after flight cancellations. CNN —Morgan Wallen is taking vocal rest and canceling tour dates after losing his voice. The country star, who is just 11 dates into his seven-month global tour, told fans that he spoke to his doctor and has been told he is unable to sing. “After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better. Instead, ticketholders were greeted with an announcement on a screen near the stage reading: “Ladies & Gentlemen, Unfortunately Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight – therefore tonight’s show has been cancelled. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at point of purchase.”Wallen is scheduled to perform next on April 27 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
So much for cheap tickets selling out first. The priciest tickets to attend Singapore's Formula One race this year are gone, despite being priced at an all-time high of 11,016 Singapore dollars ($8,260) for a three-day pass. Tickets for the "Paddock Club" entitle ticketholders to air-conditioned suites, unlimited Champagne, food and live performances, plus "exclusive access to the coveted daily Pit Lane Walk which gives an up-close view of the F1 cars, garages, and crew," according to the race website. Sunday night tickets for the Paddock Club, which overlooks the pit garage, are gone, though tickets for Friday or Saturday, which sell for $2,808 and $4,104 respectively, are still available, according to the website.
CNN —The chief executive of the Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation has doubled down on using facial recognition at its venues to bar lawyers suing the group from attending events. “At Madison Square Garden, if you’re suing us, we’re just asking of you – please don’t come until you’re done with your argument with us,” he said. Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall are world-renowned venues and should treat all patrons who purchased tickets with fairness and respect. Madison Square Garden is the home of the New York Knicks, Rangers, professional boxing, and college basketball teams. What facial recognition does is looks at, you know, recognizes your face, and says you know, are you someone who’s on this list.”Dolan claimed the State Liquor Authority has threatened MSG’s license over its use of facial recognition technology.
New York Attorney General Letitia James is requesting information from Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. related to its alleged use of facial recognition technology to prevent certain ticketholders from entering its venues. The state attorney general’s office said Wednesday that the company, which operates well-known New York venues including Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall, has reportedly used the technology to bar entry for lawyers who are currently suing it over unrelated matters.
The average ticket price for a non-premium seat to a Bengals game is about $88, the cheapest in the NFL, according to Team Marketing Reports, which tracks ticket prices. TMR estimates that the cost of all the tickets, both regular and premium seats, for the game came to about $6.7 million. If it opted to replay or continue the postponed game, the NFL almost certainly would have needed to push back the playoffs that are set to start next weekend. That game likely would have received enormous fan interest and ratings approximating those of a playoff game or Super Bowl. That means that ticketholders will lose the profit they might have received from selling the tickets, but those who bought the tickets won’t be hit with the difference between what they paid, and what they could get in a refund.
The Radio City Rockettes perform onstage during the opening night of the 2019 Christmas Spectacular Starring The Radio City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall on November 13, 2019 in New York City. Kelly Conlon and her daughter came to New York City the weekend after Thanksgiving as part of a Girl Scout field trip to Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas Spectacular show. But while her daughter, other members of the Girl Scout troop and their mothers got to go enjoy the show, Conlon wasn't allowed to do so. They had identified and zeroed in on her, as security guards approached her right as he got into the lobby. "I was just a mom taking my daughter to see a Christmas show," Conlon told the I-Team.
Qatar received just over 765,000 visitors during the first two weeks of the World Cup, according to an organizers' report obtained by Reuters, falling short of the country's expectations for an influx of 1.2 million during the month-long event. A huge surge in visitors at this stage is unlikely with only eight teams staying on in Doha, and eight games left out of the 64 in the tournament that began on Nov. 20. Organizers had previously identified the peak period for international visitors to be Nov. 24-28 during the busy group stage, when 32 teams were playing four matches every day. The report registered 1.33 million match ticketholders and 3.09 million tickets sold across the eight stadiums in Qatar for the tournament that ends on Dec. 18. The SC did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
CNN —LeAnn Rimes is postponing some of her tour dates due to a bleed on her vocal cord. Rimes announced the news with a handwritten note she posted to Instagram, writing that she’s also been sick with the flu. She continued: “While sick with the flu, my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal cord, caused by the violent cough that came along with being sick. “Please check your emails for rescheduled information and I will see you very soon.”Rimes’ “JOY: The Holiday Tour” kicked off on Dec. 2. Rimes will tentatively resume her tour on Dec. 16 in Lincoln City, Oregon.
The influx of visitors represents a 25% boost to the country's resident population of 3 million, of which only about 10-12% are Qataris. More visitors are expected to flock to Qatar for popular matches and after the country lifted entry restrictions for nationals and residents of fellow Gulf states. Previously, world soccer's governing body FIFA said that stadium attendance in Qatar had surpassed attendance at stadiums during a corresponding period at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. On Tuesday, hundreds of Moroccan fans flew into Qatar on special flights arranged ahead of their team's victory over Spain. Visitors to Qatar must obtain a Hayya identification card ahead of travel as it doubles as a mandatory entry visa during the tournament period.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermidNov 8 (Reuters) - Punters anxiously waiting to find out if they have won the United States' record-breaking $1.9 billion Powerball jackpot will have to hang on a little while longer after the drawing was again delayed on Tuesday. The jackpot grew to a whopping $1.9 billion after no one secured a winning ticket in Saturday night's drawing, according to lottery officials. "Due to the length of the draw delay, it is likely that we will not know the official results of the Powerball drawing until Tuesday morning," California Lottery said on Twitter, citing a statement from Powerball officials. The previous record for a Powerball jackpot came in 2016, when three ticketholders from California, Florida and Tennessee shared a $1.59 billion top prize.

[1/3] A screen advertises the Powerball jackpot of $1.9 billion dollars at a newsstand in New York City, U.S., November 7, 2022. REUTERS/Brendan McDermidATLANTA, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Americans on Monday were lining up yet again to buy Powerball tickets, dreaming of winning a $1.9 billion lottery jackpot that had jumped to a record high after repeated drawings failed to produce a winner. It remained down on Monday afternoon except for a home page listing Saturday's winning numbers and the new jackpot estimate. "Someone has to win," Spencer said after he shelled out cash for two $2 tickets at a Chevron station in east Atlanta. The previous record for a Powerball jackpot came in 2016, when three ticketholders from California, Florida and Tennessee shared a $1.586 billion top prize.
The Powerball jackpot now stands at a record $1.9 billion when it rolled Saturday night, after no ticket matched all six drawn numbers — white balls 28, 45, 53, 56, 69 and red Powerball 20. The record jackpot has narrowly edged out the previous high, a $1.586 billion prize won by three ticketholders in 2016. Despite there being no jackpot-winning ticket, more than 10.9 million tickets won cash prizes totaling $102.2 million in the Saturday, Nov. 5 drawing. Monday’s drawing will be the 41st Powerball drawing since the jackpot was last won on Aug. 3 in Pennsylvania. The only other Powerball jackpot run to reach 41 consecutive drawings ended on Oct. 4, 2021, with a $699.8 million winner in California.
A poster shared on social media that requests attendees to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar to avoid dating and drinking alcohol is not an official event poster and includes false information, the country’s organizing committee has told Reuters. “The ‘Qatar Welcomes You’ graphic circulating on social media is not from an official source and contains factually incorrect information,” a committee spokesperson said via email. “We strongly urge fans and visitors to rely solely on official sources from tournament organisers for travel advice for this year’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️. The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, FIFA World Cup 2022 (Q22) and FIFA will shortly be issuing an extensive fan guide that disputes a lot of the information being circulated.”A FIFA spokesperson also told Reuters via email that the poster is not an official 2022 World Cup document. The poster is not an official release by World Cup organizers.
